Our commitment
LGBTQIA+ Health NJ recognizes that digital accessibility is part of healthcare access. We aim to follow WCAG-conscious design and development practices, including semantic structure, visible focus, readable contrast, descriptive links, meaningful alternative text, keyboard-accessible controls, responsive layouts, reduced-motion support, and touch targets that are practical on mobile devices.
Current accessibility practices
- A skip link provides direct access to primary content.
- Menus, filters, disclosures, buttons, and forms use semantic controls and accessible names.
- Important map and directory information is not communicated by color alone.
- The Healthcare Caution Map provides search and list-based alternatives to map interaction.
- Pages are designed to reflow across phone, tablet, laptop, and desktop widths without requiring horizontal page scrolling.
- Animation is reduced when a visitor’s device requests reduced motion.
Ongoing work
Accessibility is an ongoing maintenance responsibility, not a one-time certification. Content, third-party links, browser behavior, and assistive technologies change. New features are reviewed for keyboard use, responsive behavior, labels, focus, headings, contrast, and error communication before publication whenever practical.
Third-party content
Some linked resources, provider websites, PayPal pages, social platforms, PDFs, or external services are controlled by other organizations. We cannot guarantee their accessibility, but feedback about barriers in a pathway helps us improve alternatives and make more informed linking decisions.
Request support or report a barrier
Email lgbtqiahealthnj@gmail.com with the page, task, device or assistive technology if relevant, and a description of the barrier. You do not need to disclose a diagnosis or disability. We will use the information to investigate and offer an alternative when one is reasonably available.
